Founded by The Rogers Men in 2009, Wyanoke Builders is proud to have built dozens of relationships with Clients, Homeowners, and local businesses in and around our hometown of Montclair, NJ.
In 1955, Marjorie and Ralph Rogers purchased a house for their family on Wyanoke Street (pronounced “why-ah-noak”) in White Plains, NY. It was at this house where Ralph taught their eldest son, Glenn, how to do basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry tasks. Soon enough Glenn started using his hands to demolish a 2-story horse barn on his parents’ property, build a new retaining wall for the garage, and construct a deck off the back of the house.
After relocating to Montclair in 1987 with his wife, Katrina, and three children, Glenn passed on his desire to build and fix things to his two sons, Daren and Brandon. Couch cushions, Lincoln Logs, Erector Sets, Legos, and anything else they could get their hands onto were quickly assembled, taken apart, and then reconfigured into elaborate structures - often with no regard to provided instructions or their mother’s suggestion to enjoy their built work for more than a few hours. So it came as no surprise when Daren and Brandon both pursued degrees and careers based in design and creativity.
Daren graduated with a Bachelors of Architecture from The Cooper Union after which he managed the construction and renovation of over $150 million of residential, commercial, industrial and educational spaces in the NY/NJ Metro area while a team member at The TLM Group and Project Risk Analytics.
Brandon has a B.A. in Marketing from George Washington University’s School of Business. While living in Washington DC, Brandon oversaw a guerrilla marketing team of 10 people at Zipcar and worked in the start-up world at Living Social.
Glenn Rogers has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from New York University and an Executive MBA from Harvard University. Glenn worked for 30 years for Public Service Energy Group, retiring as the company’s Chief Information Officer in 2002. Glenn also served as Chief Operating Officer for Audible.com and founded The Silverback Group, LLC, a consultation firm specializing in business management and operational efficiency.
Leveraging the knowledge and experiences gathered from their individual careers, The Rogers Men founded Wyanoke Builders. When they’re not working, one of the Rogers Men enjoys a good bottle of Pinot Noir and is often seen at the local Starbucks, the second enjoys spending time on his bike and in the kitchen, and the third enjoys karaoke and designing and building one-of-a-kind clothing and furniture. And because it’d be too easy to tell you who’s who based on those clues, we encourage you to contact us and come to your own conclusions!
